Recheck Ultrasound

So we have good news and bad news. The bad news is that we don't have any new ultrasound pics. Today's ultrasound was just to check for signs of labor and the position of the placenta. The good news, however is that the placenta is in just the right spot and we are not in danger of going into labor anytime soon. The baby's head is down and in the position it should be and our doctor doesn't foresee him turning prior to birth. We are so thankful for these signs that everything is going well. We took care of the hospital pre-registration and insurance paperwork today, so a couple more things are off of the baby prep list! Our next routine appointment will be next week with one of our Certified Nurse Midwives. We are getting very excited! Jerret was able to come home early from a business trip, so we will be able to spend our last Valentine's Day as a kidless couple together!

28 Week Update

It's the beginning of our third trimester! Our boy is doing very well. His heart rate and movement are normal and his size has noticeably increased! Mom has been having some mild contractions, which have been determined to be only the Braxton-Hicks type. We learned that the function of these is to prepare for actual birth contractions, but they're not indicative of problems at this time - including preterm labor. This type of contraction can come early or just prior to actual labor contractions, both cases are normal. A negative result of the fetal fibronectin test (supposedly) ensures us that our little one won't be coming within the next 2 weeks. This is a significant plus since he's not quite ready yet! The ultrasound that was scheduled for 32 weeks was moved up due to the contractions, so we should have more pictures for you on Wednesday - look for an update!

We finished our final Bradley class last week. Now we just have to make sure we keep up on our exercises so we stay fresh on everything. We also took a thorough tour the Family Birth Center at Presbyterian St Luke's Hospital, so we know what to look forward to and where to go on the big day. We are just checking things off of our to-do list at this time. The nursery is our current project in progress, but we're working on it just one step at a time. It has been a bit of a stressful time around the Eastburg household since the passing of Holly's father and the surrounding family issues, but we are working through it. Thank you for all the flowers, cards, and especially prayers through this stressful time. We greatly benefit from and appreciate your love and support.
