Playing in the Dirt

Bruce and Willow play together all the time. Bruce knows how to play fetch with her and find sticks to give her. Willow taught him to dig in the dirt, which is funny because she doesn't normally dig unless he's watching. She loves to bark or run or dig or do whatever gets him to laugh. She also loves when he shares his snacks with her - although we try not to condone that one. :) They usually stop doing anything cute by the time I have the camera on though. I think that's an innate trait of all children and animals. This time I was able to get some footage. They are such great friends!

Sundays have been big days for us recently. Here is B trying to snatch a nap in the car.

Fun at the Zoo

We had a roller-coaster week last week! On Monday, Jerret was laid off from his job. Although we were disappointed, we tried to stay positive as we know God has a plan for us. Jerret put out some resumes on Tuesday, had an interview on Thursday, got a job offer on Friday, and started his new job on Wednesday! Wow! This job will allow for a lot of time with the family, since he should have mostly regular hours and gets to come home and eat lunch with us! Yay! What a relief after the last few jobs which kept him away a lot.

Before the trip

Bruce and I went to the zoo on Tuesday with my Texas friend, Laura and her sweet twin boys. It was so fun to get out and spend time with our friends! It was pretty hot, though. The day was cut short due to the heat and our group consisting of 2 women, each about 5 months pregnant toting 3 toddlers. Not the most resilient bunch! We all needed naps after that day, but it was lots of fun. The boys enjoyed seeing the animals, mostly the penguins. We hung out in there a while due to the air conditioning and the swim cage that the boys could see very well.

It's a Girl!

We found out in the ultrasound yesterday that we are expecting a girl - yay! She appears to be healthy and is right on track as far as growth and measurements. Isn't she cute? She's starting to let her presence be known. She's getting very active!

Here are some pictures of our hike at the MOPS campout last weekend. It was about 100 degrees and quite humid that day, but it was wonderful fun anyway!

Beginning of Summer

As Bruce has become more mobile, he is no longer content to stay in one place. He finds ways to entertain himself all over the house with more than just his toys, so we really have to be careful! It does encourage us to keep stuff picked up, however! I was in the kitchen and Bruce was playing by himself, going back and forth to and from his room to get toys, look out the window, etc. Then it got quiet. That's always a bit scary. I found him by the back door, playing with a laundry basket and clothespins I left there to bring the laundry in later. He didn't seem to notice my presence, he was concentrating so hard. He was putting the clothespins into the holes on the laundry basket. He was very serious about it and patiently focused on the task at hand. It is so amazing to see his little personality emerge!

On J's day off, we went to Fossil Rim, which is 1500 acres of land with animals wandering free all over it. It's like a safari, where you drive through and can see and feed the animals from your car. I was worried that Bruce wouldn't be able to enjoy it, but he actually loved it! He would look for the animals and point to them. He was intrigued when they came up to the car and stuck their heads in the window. We took B to the petting zoo part, but he was only mildly impressed. He walked straight past the goats, looking for rocks (a precarious pass time in a petting zoo). I assume he thought of them as dogs and just figured he pets enough animals at home. He did like the cockatoos that could say "hello" though. Here are some pictures of our day. Unfortunately, the camera batteries ran 1/2 way through the trip and the others I brought were also dead! Arrgh!

An extreme close-up of one of two ostriches that attempted damage to our car when we didn't feed them fast enough. Yikes! They're not as nice as they look!
