More Antics in the Pool

We spent time at Grandma's house today since J had the day off. Jerret's Uncle Flynn and Aunt Nancy are in town and were also there. Bruce and his cousin John played in (and out of) the pool in the afternoon. The very amusing part about it is the game they had going. Bruce wanted out of the pool after a short while of splashing. He then started picking up rocks (priceless treasures in his world) and putting them in the pool. When John saw them there, he would throw them out. They were very diligent about their specific roles in this game or system of whatever it was. Pretty cute. They did it for quite a while. One in - "plop" - and one back out onto the grass. Repeat. A million times. A snippet of the scene is in the video below. Don't worry. I know it looks close, but no one was hit with any rocks! The rest of the day was fun and relaxing. We enjoyed great food and had a wonderful day with everyone!

"These rings go on your head, don't they?"

We also visited Grandma's house that is being built. It's only 6 weeks into the process and the outside is pretty much done!

Relief From the Heat

"This is the best bath ever!"

With some of Bruce's birthday money, we purchased a baby pool. We thought it would provide some fun and a break from the heat for Bruce. For Bruce, mind you, not for his overheated pregnant mom to put her feet in - although it does come in handy for that too from time to time. :) He was a bit apprehensive the first few times, but realized that it's really just like the bath, only bigger! He loves to splash water everywhere! Sorry for the terrible pixelation of the video - it was way too bright out for the camera's video function.

This is hilarious!

And the scenery is awesome!

"I LOVE playing in Daddy's toolbox!"

"Wow! This thing is as big as me!"

Who can resist those puppy dog eyes?

Here are a couple videos of Jerret trying to teach Bruce that it's okay to get water on his face. Who knew that could be so funny?

Anniversary Week

Wildflowers!

Even though our anniversary isn't until tomorrow, we have been doing some special things throughout the week to mark the occasion. We went to the little touristy town of Granbury at the beginning of the week. We all had a wonderful and memorable day together! We went to Lake Granbury and a few other places there, then went to the nearby town of Glen Rose and visited Dinosaur Valley State Park, which claims to have some of the most well preserved dino footprints in the world, and also has many fun trails along the Paluxy River. It was on a stop in a Granbury ice cream parlor that Bruce finally understood and repeated the ASL sign for "more". We have been trying to teach him for so long. It just took the right incentive, I guess! Since we last posted the video of him walking, he has embraced it fully. He can now run (if the ground is flat and he is concentrating and there are no toys or pets in the way, etc.), but is unfortunately getting a lot of bumps and bruises in the process. Walking is now all he wants to do. He is easy to entertain as long as he has some space. He just walks circles around a room! He does also get into new things, which keeps mom on her toes! It does save us from having to carry him as much. We just have to be willing to stop for every bug or fun rock or leaf or stick or crack in the sidewalk or ...

Here are some pictures of our Granbury/Glen Rose fun!

Bruce really loved looking out at the lake

Pretty flower bush - I am totally sure that's the scientific name :)

Bruce actually caught this roly-poly himself! Another milestone! (It's on the left side of his thumb - a bit hard to see) This is the first of an endless number of caught bugs, I am sure!

A close-up of the captor (don't worry, Colorado friends - we let him go unharmed.)

Looking for more rocks and bugs

Riding on dad's shoulders (one of his favorite places to view the world from)

Dino footprints - we are told by assumably smarter folks that they were probably made by an Acrocanthosaurus. (Spare yourself the time and agony of asking Jerret or myself our theories on this dinosaur "research")

More Dino prints - Pleurocoelus

Mixed dino prints under the water

Neither of us knew before we moved here how much we would love Cardinals. They have the coolest song and some are just a stunning bright red! (Click to enlarge if interested)

Catching frogs in the pools

B's first attempted felony - he has an obsession with rocks. He collects them and carries them around and looks at them and feels them and gives them to others and, well, we try to prevent him from tasting them, but it turns out that he really is a boy after all. :)

We just thought we'd post a better video of B walking. Hope everyone is having a great weekend!
